only problem i have with the mac book is the integrated video.
go with the 15 mac pro. it will take all of the budget you mentioned but dual booting is nice.
if you want cheaper, dell will surely have something.
i have both a dell laptop and the 17 mac pro. i like both. the mac hardware certainly feels better but i have not had a problem with either.
