i agree with the look for a new job thing, managers can detect when someone fears loosing their job and they use it to their advantage, (its usually because managers do nothing but organize folders all day, make a few calls and do no actual work towards accomplishing any real deadlines, plus since they lack the skill you do they know they are pretty much useless; they will do what they can to put you in check this will also stop you from getting wise to it) If you have something lined up or a back up plan, you will notice your life becoming much easier.
