Perhaps not like a "just use it because it's better", give her some examples as to why it would be with your original version.
She's a hair dresser, yes, but that is her profession. She is also the client, but the client also needs you to look out for their best interest on matters they may not know about (people who actually use computers), and more often or not would like explanation behind work as opposed to just finished product sometime.
Lose the tech-geek talk and talk in terms of 'beauty' almost to get on her level as to which design is better (in your opinion of course, if you want to go this route by all means go ahead ... this is as always my two cents, haha).
