my brother in law was taking some law enforcement classes in the US and explained to me how they have cultural sensitivity training and proper uses of the words "african american".
they insisted that no matter what country the person is from, they MUST be african american so my cousin's boyfriend in france (who is french and black) should henceforth be called an "african american french man".
mmhmm.
