hm... sounds like a strat model might suit your style better than a gibson.
all of those bands have a pretty light sound in the guitar work. i dont mean that in a bad way at all either. just an observation.
so, if you do get quite serious, id say that an Ibanez might be a nice place to start looking. they have some great sounding electrics. and offer a nice range in prices as well. but like we are sayin, there are lots of great brands out there, so play around and take a friend that plays (well) too. someone who plays well can help steer you in the right direction.
