I am not so sure it will disappear. The only disadvantage to it that I am know of is that most people don't have the free player.
They quality is much better than QT or WMP, and the file sizes much smaller.
It's a shame it hasn't caught on, but then again, I am pushing for an all Flash movies in the future. One nice player, complete control, etc.
