Most popular/youth television shows and films use Apple products nowadays, particularly the laptop and the iPod. There are some other ones used as well, such as Dell and the Vaio, but there are A LOT of Apple laptops being used in the media now and iPods have basically penetrated everywhere, meaning that you just assume that character (particularly a rich one) would have an iPod if they mentioned that they had an mp3 player.
