    I agree with Bio on everything he has said, although...

    if you're just starting out it is better to get something cheaper and easy to play. Gibsons are tougher to learn on than fender or any 'strat style' guitar because of their thicker and heavier body and, from my experience, less string action.

    I have two gibsons and i love them, but i've been playing for over 12 years. I learned on a strat style (it was actually a peavey) and it was much easier for me to play back then. plus it was soooooo much cheaper.

    plus, if you decide you dont like playing the guitar, you're not out a grand for a good gibson.
