D&AD Awards
-----------------------ok well my pay didn't go up 40K.
it was a good night tho, Stephen Fry was the host and he was brillliant but then he is isn't he? the food was delicious, much better than the BAFTAs dahling where "Interactive" is still a secret shame, the poor geeky kid brother of real arts like Film and Television, no the D&ADs were cool, more of the actual creatives go, creatives like me, yeah baby that's right.
I was up against a company i'd been made redundant from as a lowly web-designer years before, they had loads of designers for their project but I was the only one on my project and BEATING them single-handedly felt good ahahhaaaa!
later i met Steve Jobs – ok i was very drunk and basically i accosted him in front of Jonathan Ive – i waved my D&AD pencil in Job's eye and demanded a photo with him, slurring LOOK LOOK I WON AN AWARD!! like an embarrassing git and he said Yes i know i saw you, so then i died of meet-one-of-your-idols admiration and ran away downstairs to play table football with some lovely bearded scandinavian MTV designers who said they'd tried the same thing with Jobs and he'd said No sorry i'm not working tonight, so then i was all chuffed but also secretly worried i'd just been hit on by a very old man whom i disturbingly found quite attractive just because he seemed so POWERFUL, god we really are just animals sniffing out alphas aren't we?
