Liquid... I drink a Red Line only when I have to and never on a leg day. Last time I did that I thought I was going to pass out. Diet Turbo Tea is really good too. Gives me just enough kick to wake up but not too much that I feel jittery.
Supplements:
Protein shake. I take Pro-Complex. Really anything relatively high in protein (30-60), moderate carbs (30-50) and low in fat will do.
Glucosamine. 500mg morning and night. It helps my old joints.
A good multi-vitamin. I take Opti-Pro (I think that's what it's called) 2x a day. Morning and night. If you think about it when you work out you're burning vital nutrients and vitamins from your body. You need to replace them.
Also I take 400iu of Vitamin E every morning as well.
Also 1000mg of Vitamin C once a day in the morning.
Vitamin E and C will be included in most Multi-vitamin packs, but not at the level athletes or people who are training a few times a week need.
Also, when I diet I take Lipo-6. But only for 3 weeks on, 1 week off, then repeat.
I used to be huge into supplements. Andro, Test, any other bullshit sold on the shelves. There was a time when I tried almost every "get big quick" supplement sold. All crap.
There is no secret to putting on muscle or losing fat.
I used to train with Mr. Illinois a few years ago. Fantastic guy. After we got to know each other pretty well I asked him in private one day "So tell me, seriously... what's the secret... what did you do... what should I take?"
He stopped his treadmill, thought for a moment, leaned over to me and said "Ok, I've never told this to anybody before, so keep it a secret. The secret is Hard Work and Consistency." Then he put on his headphones and started the treadmill again. Fuck.
Sucked then cause I wanted the easy out. But there ain't one. Wish he'd told me that before I spent hundreds on crap that doesn't work.
Don't get suckered into that crap either.
