I may be just hungover and stupid, but that didn't make any sense to me, Rand!
Um, Rusty - yeah, it is a little tricky, isn't it? Having had a fiddle, I can make a symbolic, uniform drop quite easily from a circle, but making a 'correct' looking illustrative one, with tapered top descending lines is a bit harder. Hmm.
The trick to making a simple drop is in aligning the starting circle to a grid, so that when you move the top-most point up you have a reference when using the Convert Anchor Point Tool.
To compensate for the difficulty in making the 'top descenders' taper, you can select the two side-most points and move them down slightly.
Christ, I hope that makes sense - I really am feeling stupid.
