wow. i can't believe that the republican agenda has taken so many of you away from the truth. Let's talk about Gore's 10 years and the desire for a bi-partisan team to get the facts.
First, we ARE past the point of no return, and we HAVE to change our carbon output habits in order to save the lives of millions of people. 10 years from NOW means that we will experience the effects, NOT just creating, the change in ecology of an entire planet.
The bi-partisan team exists. They are called scientists, and their experiments show that the carbobn levels in the atmosphere TODAY are higher than they have been in 600 million years. This is because of the drastic increase in human population and the drastic increase of dirty filthy energy. Those scientists who disagree are not taken seriously be intelligent people or any scientist. It's propaganda.
No storms this year?! OMG, that doesn't mean we're "in the clear." 1 year doesn not an end-game make or unmake. It's this kind of short-sightedness that put us into this dangerous situation.
If the scientists are right, if carbon levels do dictated the temperature of the planet, like they have for epochs uopn ages, then AT ANY MOMENT the temperatures could begin to rise even faster than they are now, which is fast: hottest summers on record worldwide.
Switch to biodiesel, write your congressman, conserve energy, walk, ride bikes, stop war (can you imagine the carbon output of a war?). Do it soon or the person who started this string will be choking on the ocean if displaces human beings clamoring of limited resources.
