i think you also get a wireless controller and headset with the premium. the core you get a wired controller. premium also comes with component vs. composite. if you have an HDTV, you need the component cable to use the 360 in HD resolutions. there is also the VGA cable you can purchase so you can play the 360 on displays with vga inputs. currently this is the only way to view HD-DVD movies in 1080p resolution if you decide to get the HD-DVD add-on. it is possible to get 1080p with the component cables but the TVs that actually supports 1080p over component are very rare right now.
the hard drive is really useful, to me, now that you can download tv shows and movies like you can on itunes.
