Flagellum there's plenty of naturalistic explainations of consciouness. Look into the work Owen Flanagan. You have the tendency to inject philosophy in the absense of hard science, which there isn't much of any yet. Neurology and the cognitive sciences are just devloping these fields of study, so there's not a lot of concensus either way.
