I found a dogeared copy of Hazen in the middle of a street, late one night, walking home. The white cover made it hard to miss. Of course, I picked it up. Some pages were crinkled as if wine had spilled and in some palces there were notes.
I kept it as if Ihad a girlfriend who made all those dishes with me, laughing, glasses tinkling, bumping against each at the stove, while the ossobucco bubbled and steamed.I never used it, finally throwing into the street.
