I think you would be able to put up the interface and animation controls relatively quickly.
Actionscript is a steep learning curve but if you have done some object oriented programming before it wont be that hard. I did a intensive 4 day course on actionscript application developement and it taught me a lot about best practice and how create dynamic sites. I'm no expert but it saved me a lot of time trying to work this stuff out myself. Courses are only 1000 bucks or so and I got work to pay for mine.
