Ok, I'll take your bait for a minute. I'm a glutton for punishment. But please don't make me define terms for you to understand. Just look them up.
Some of scientific evidence for ID is:
- Fine tuning of the cosmologic constants. i.e. the laws of physics are "rigged" to support life. Within an impossibly small tolerance.
- The Cambrian Explosion: The majority of biological novelty in the form of unique tissue, cells and body plans, appear abruptly in the geologic column without precursors and without any evidence of gradualism from simpler lifeforms.
- Cellular Machinery: The rotors, turbines, transport shuttles, pulleys, stators, etc... in the cell which make it more complex than the infrastructure of NYC. This machinery is Irreducibly Complex meaning that there would be nothing for Darwinian Natural Selection to select upon. This machinery requires all of it's parts simultaneously to function. Remove one component and the machine fails.
- Digital code at the core of life: The 4 nucleotide alphabet encoded along the spine of the DNA molecule. This is also known as Specified Information. DNA is a ribosome coding computer. Blind, a-telic mechanisms don't write programs.
- The complete lack of intermediates in the fossil record. Only a handful of Chimeras. Most phyla give no evidence of evolution via gradualism. Rather a saltational evolution is what the record would demonstrate. i.e. the sudden appearance of novel phyla (from reading a genetic program). Think of a computer algorith which executes different functions at given intervals.
