This is a myth. I only know of scientists who want ALL of Darwinian Evolution to be taught in school. Rather than just the evidence which seemingly supports it. These people include agnostics, jews and even atheists.
No, I do not believe you understand ID. The only epistemological reason I know of is that some people don't think that there should be an educational monopoly which enforces philosophical materialism.
There’s a simple way for this problem to go away: stop stealing the money of the unwashed masses (in the form of taxes) to underwrite an ideologically driven materialistic conception of science; instead, get your money from secular elites like Paul Allen, George Soros, Charles Simonyi, etc.
People teach Darwinian Evolution because they are either ignorant of the evidence against or have a philosophical bias and are scholastically dishonest.
