i'd have to disagree with you there...
Devisive? Yes.
Have many awful things been done in the name of religion?
Yes. But, to me, you can't throw it all away.
In my view, religion is so devisive because there are true elements involved.
In our western mindset everything is science and yet the US is a more "spiritual" nation every day.
Anyhow, I'm going off on a tangeant, and I'm not trying to start a debate.
I am a Christian though, and not a thoughtless one either.
Beyond the fringe of Christianity thats get pointed out so often, there are thoughtful, critical thinking Christians out there who could probably put some of your assumptions to the test.
While I'm not "religious" in the sense of ritualism and rule following, I don't believe that this world would be any better without religion.
At the base, I think we are all screwed up and hopeless without God.
