My dad has bailed me out of situations in the past and would continue to bail me out of any situations if I ever did anything. However, thankfully I was scared enough of my parents that I didn't try anything after middle school.
That's the way it should be. Just scared enough of your parents that you won't go around going dumb stuff. Your parents do care (for the most part) and want to see you safe, of course, but after that the kid deserves some punishment unless the humiliation and guilt was enough.
