since i never actually held a job and only did freelance (if film though not design) then i can say that save up as at some point a few months in a row you will get tons of money and thinking that life is easy you will spend it all only to discover that momentarily (a few months in a row again) clients stopped calling...
...happened to me last winter, so this winter i'm ready (even though the clients are still calling).
