    i use a budget sure microphone for recording noises and vocals. never used it outside in the wind, i presume it'd get a lot of windnoise.

    if you are recording specific noises - like someone talking outside then you should get like a zoom mic that 'points' towards something in the distance to pick up rather than just recording the ambience around itself.
    or a big foam cover for the mix will cut out windnoise. (this option would be cheaper than a specialised mic ;))
