    Sorry kOna, cops wouldn't arrest me for killing someone because it's a "sin" and against "divine law" they'd arrest me becaus eit violates legal statues, common law, etc.

    The cops authority is a much more earthy power.

    But this just sort of moves the goalposts closer in. We are forced to ask: why is it common law? What in principle, makes it wrong to hurt others? We can either continue ad infinitum with an endless regress of "becauses", or we can concede that there is an ultimate moral standard which lets us know what is right and wrong.
