(Nov 4 06, 10:38)The media gives us what we want and most are run by old, white, heterosexual men, that's all true, but the media also perpetuates and sustains the crap that people themselves believe. For example, I have seen several interviews with rap and hip-hop stars and the way they see violence and their lifestyle tends to be very similar. Of course this doesn't mean everyone is like that, but a lot of the most popular ones are. The you have your white, druggy rock stars. Many of these things are stereotypical.
Right now we have bands like Fall Out Boy who are popular (they definitely have a particular style) and Green Day, and then we have people like 50 Cent on MTV. Each one has a different lifestyle and message to send out.
