Saville is very much alive, he's the creative director of Manchester.
I never really have a favorite designer i tend to find other disciplines produce more interesting work (like oma and mdrv in architecture)
But in the field of graphic design I respect:
Daniel Eatock
Bob Gill
Erik Speikermann
Derek Birdsall
Mr C Place's more recent work
Ken Garland
