if that's only a third, janne, you should break them up into lots determined by subject and then do as you and OBBTKN suggested:
photograph each lot as a set, put the photographs on flikr, put the catalogue information for each book in the lot as hotspots on the image or in the image description, and then sell them lot by lot and don't break up the lots. people can bid for each lot in the commment area. that should work, no?
