While I don't care for his work, at all, I acknowledge that he's good at what he does. If perpetuating and glamorizing and commodifying urban contemporary culture is the ideal, Carty is one of the best.
I just think it was absurd years ago when he used to sign every post "Picture Pimp", and when he posts his own site in photography threads. That to me is a bit much.
With that said, I'm sure he's a nice guy, and I'm stoked for anybody on NT who's made it.
