OK, so a slight update to what I had said before. I ordered my refurb iMac from the apple website and it arrived in less than 24 hours. It came in a plain brown box (no fancy apple box) and has a couple slight scuffs on the surface below the screen area by the apple. So its not cosmetically perfect but seems to work without setting on fire so far.
