Lookâthe man had such a profound impact on cinema you can point to things everywhere as being influenced by Kubrick.And yes, if I look long enough I can see why one would be so drawn to the Kubrick thing here. But the clown thing and the paint thing is all too surface for me.
Honestly, it was not even on my radar when I saw this. I felt more resonance with the influence of Linsay Anderson films, and larger themes like color and joy within desolation and sparseness.
Just my take.
