i was pretty cheap, i only spent like 300$ on my wife's engagment ring. i was only makin like 6$ an hour at the time though. later on i bought a ring wrap thingy for her to connect her wedding band and engagment ring and that was like a grand cause it had these little diamonds all the way around it. i think most girls just want something nice, and something that had some thought put into it. at least that's my experience
