Not that I ain’t always proud of myself, but thought this was blog worthy.
I had to custom fabricate the throttle cable geometry extension for the 66. Originally the engine came with a 2 barrel intake manifold and carburetor. So, to add some horses, I put on a 4 barrel combo.
The transmission was also built for a 2 barrel, hence the throttle cable fabrication.
So, making this extension, which is basically just a flat piece of metal with a slot about 1/3 the width. So that the arm on the carb will slide about two inches, and communicate with the tranny to change gears accordingly.
Anyway, when you step on the pedal 3/4 the way, it changes gears properly in sequence... And then, with the extra 1/4 throttle, you'll feel a button being pushed, it activates the passing gear... drops it into second, opens the 4 barrels and then just hauls ass.
