"I know you pulled that job at the Dedham Mall!"

Sorry, that's the mall closest to me and I didn't see that one coming out of Leo's mouth in a million years.

But, fantastic movie! Seen it twice already. Second time around I was able to notice the subtle things Scorsese threw in. During the beginning, they never showed Jack's face. He was always shadowed. The first time you see his face is when he leans in and delivers the line that sets up the movie: "When you were a kid you were told you could become a cop or a criminal. But, when you're facing a loaded gun, (lean's into the light) what's the difference?" Awesome.

I do think the girl in the beginning was Jack's girl later on. They share that little laugh towards to end of the scene in the store which seems to signify it.

And, monkeyshine, it is implied at the end that Damon's girl tipped off Wahlberg. Because a little bit before Leo hands her the envelope that he says not to open unless anything happens. My question, though, is that he shows up to her and Damon's apartment to drop off that envelope to her, then later he mails Damon the CD recording. Didn't he know it was the same apartment and that she was, in fact, dating him?

Regardless, the movie was brilliant. I'd say one of the best this decade. Every performance was strong (I thought Wahlberg and Baldwin especially). Scorsese did an incredible job, more so than his other movies. There wasn't really a time when the camera went crazy. You couldn't even recognize it was one of his other than the blatant violence. He just made the movie flow very smoothly. The soundtrack was exceptional as well.

All in all, a must see. And, the don't even butcher the accent that much either (save for a few times with the girlfriend)!
