blueOne: disagree. I would put it that the New Testament "completes" the OT and that a properly applied hermeneutic would be to interpret the OT in light of the NT. We begin with the NT and move backwards, to properly understand the foreshadowing of the OT.
I don't believe that salvation was ever achieved more than one way: faith in Christ. Even in the OT. Which is why God gave the Mosaic law. It was to demonstrate that people could not achieve the perfect standard which God requires. It pointed to the coming Christ. Salvation has always been achieved by faith in the savior. This is why the OT says that "Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness."
