acescence: ripping Old Testament legal regulations out of context is not going to serve you well in a discussion with me. It is understand by those with even a cursory understanding Biblical hermeneutics that, during the OT covenant period, God gave a contentious and rebellious nomadic people over to their ways and thus regulations like the one you cited out of context, were established for a time.
