    Hey Tara,
    I don't know your friends taste. But if someone would be painting squares of colors for me, I would ask them to come over first:
    Have a look at the colors at my place. My furniture, their layout around the apartment, lightsources and their colors, etc.

    If I could get a painting drawn from the base of that, that would work togheter with my place, or enhance it be either making up for lost colors or strenghten existing ones, I'd be happy to hang that humongous frame on my wall.

    That's just me. Some art should stand out, of course, but for colored squares, this is what I would like.
