perhaps there's something strange about this. when you hear about someone from your past, you try to hide that flustered look and try to go on with the day as normal. it continues to bother you though.
perhaps someone from a very long time ago got engaged and you are unable to figure out why this upsets you so much. you haven't seen or spoken to her in years but that suffocation begins to feel overwhelming.
perhaps because this is the death strike. even though it didn't go anywhere, you still harbored hopes that someday it might all come together.
perhaps you hoped that she was just as miserable as you. your hopes, as false as they might be, were something you could hold on to. but truth has a way of letting you down.
perhaps the worst part is that you don't even have anyone you can talk to -- you never did. all you have is a silly portal full of people you've never even met.
perhaps it is better this way.
