I went in December for a week with my gf to meet her folks and reconnoiter as I may move there with the better half in a year or so.

    Loved it.

I can't give you any advice on accomodations since I stayed with family and I'm sure that what someone wants to do on holiday will vary with their tastes.

(1.) Shop like a maniac (I came back with a ton of Sanrio, San-X stuff, Japanese and HK magazines, cd-r's emblazoned with cute cartoon characters). Also, if you're into Eric So, Michael Lau, Kubricks, etc etc., you can find plenty of that stuff easily.

(2.) Piracy is rampant. I didn't go in for any of the wares on offer and wouldn't adviseyou to either, but you can easily find a wide array of cracked software, pirated music and films, etc. for (very very) cheap.

(3.) See the "Big Buddha" on Lantau Island. It's the world's largest seated outdoor Buddha. The bus ride on very narrow, windy hill rodes can be a bit harrowing (or so it seemed to me at the time).

(4.) Ocean Park - a bit like Great Adventure. If you're not into theme parks (they really are very similar from country to country imho), you can skip it.

I'm an idiot, so I can't think of anything else that stands out, but I think you will absolutely love it.

    Have a great time !
