I got made redundant last year after working for a company for 8 years. I got 3 months notice and no pay out. Because Jersey's archaic employment law doesn't have any provision for it. So basically I worked for this wanker for 8 years. A lot of unpaid o/t and stress with the promise of greater things. The senior creative got poached and rather than take a risk with me he fired me and decided to change the direction of the company.
So I found a lesser paying job with less stress. After 6 months they were so pleased with my work (as was I, I felt revitalised) they gave me a pay rise. So now I earn more, my work is much better, I even get health care and a pension which is unheard of over here.
The other company? They appear to be going down the crapper really fast. I hope he chokes.
So every cloud has a silver lining.
Still, just another reason for leaving this island.
