ok Montreal : speak to you tommorrow morning :)

    just kidding

doing this since the age of 16... i think that's part of the problem.. i've always and will always say : like these hyper student clones that are full on at 18/19 y.o.. that's no good.. when i was 16 i was into games, yes, but not design.. i don't know..it just doesnt make any sense.. u need to feel things.. not to start right on at the age of 17 witrh photoshop and flash ..
u need time, u need freedom, exactly, like u said : feeling who you are and what you want to do without the Big 'web desing dream' in your back all the time.. i'm sorry i haven't got the words to explain myself..
but how can u be 'mature' (in design.. ) when u have been doing one thing since the age of 16, and only one thing where u 've tried to succeed.. ?
I'm 32 almost.. I've stared 'design' on the very first Apple Mac out there doing logo work and DTP.
Then i stopped, started agin in England, freelance, then stopped again, started again on the web this time, a bit of 3 d too.. then stopped again, started again full on about 4 years ago with all the web tools and stuff..
    but i'll probably stoop again..
my point is during 10 years i've stopped many times, i've lived in 5 different countries (not travelled : lived..) and i've tereid billions of things like car wash, factory work in Oz, Diving instructor in Thailand and toursit spammer in Brazil..
you can't JUST live with desing when you're too young for it. you need oxygen , space, meeting lots of people, seeing and reading lotrs of things..
if u don't then you'll get bored, you'll get common like this HyperIsland mofos doing these supa cool scandinavian supa sharp little sites .. but once you've seen one .. you've seen them all.. and today the problem is all the kids think they are gonna do it, and they just need a bit more technique...
i think like any other desing, it takes years, it takes a lot of different things to live for a nd by design, and certainly your school is gonna help, but it's never gonna make a designer out of you...
Because the graphic design industry and the web design are fields where noone seems to see the limits and the rules, everyone feels like yes i could do it..

but one day you obviously feel like : no.. i can't..

now i wish u lots of luck and i'm sure you'll be back, someday..

what's important now is : HAVE A FUCKIN' great time , enjoy yourself !!
