the issue here isn't the phone calls. he's asking for advice on how to handle the malcontent that has grown inside of him since the two split the difference in their lifestyles. he's slightly jealous as he stated.
the bigger thing to do would obviously be to take the kindness/abuse which the friend may or may not know he's inflicting.
but if you don't want to there isn't any real moral dilemma there. people change.
