its very likely that he's not making as much money as he says..
do what you think is best.. if I were you I'd find a way of warning him about the legal implications and then mind my own business.. emailing the companies is a moral choice? specially when you consider that those oblivious companies may get sued.
sooner or later he would be found out and he'd be dealing with a 17 page legal document.
if he gets graded on the stuff then thats a different issue its plagiarism and you should let everyone know about it..
I wouldnt settle for anything less than getting a tutor or senior lecturer or course leader or whatever giving him a good bollocking.
