interesting idea...
i suppose you could check the Flash ver at the beginning of the movie and set a var
then in all movie clips that contain text use 2 keyframes...put flash 6 text on the first frame and flash 8 on the second frame, and when the clip loads direct it to the correct frame based on the var you set
seems like in theory it should work. if you're using SWFObject you could set the minimum version of flash to 6
