couple of ways to go here.
1. http://www.supersimple.org - supersimple blog script, which is a little more than you need, but not too much. allows you to design it, customize, etc.
2. http://www.37signals.com - Tadalist from 37 signals. This is a basic to do list. They also have Backpack, which offers some more features. They are free and hosted for you.
