Well:
If on a MAC, the latest versions of iDVD and DVD Studio Pro support 16:9 format and will convert your QT into DVD format and you can burn a DVD from the application itself.
There are lot's of apps that convert to MPEG2, but you still need to author the DVD in an application to get the DVD player to read it.
