  and here's one more thought.
  i'm not sure how buff you are with your stereo's, but since i've been traveling like a maniak the past 6 years, my stereo is pretty much outta date. so i can't hook it up to my pc.

  so there's the question of those old cassette tapes you grew up with. can't just change that to mp3 unless you have the equipment. my md hooked right up to my stereo and i was able to record heaps of songs from cassettes too.
  plus.. honestly, i think the ipod is way too overpriced, like everything else offered by macintosh.
