Do the 360. I just did and I'm on a nice size, but regular tube TV. Everything looks good. I'm sure it'd look 10x better on a hi-def but still looks good.
You can download a bunch of demos on the 360, see if you actually like the games, and then go out and buy or rent them.
I just picked up my first game, Madden 07, and it's awesome. Waiting for NBA 07 and Just Cause (like GTA on an island). Table Tennis is a lot of fun too.
