    You can do all this using ImageReady Actions:
    - Resize to a set width
    - crop to a set height (centered)
    - AutoContrast (or AutoLevels)
    - Unsharp Mask (a20,r1,t0)
    - and if you like, place a text caption at a set distance from any edge of the image.

    That should sort out about 90% of em (unless your photos have a really bad hue shift or need rotating).

    and then go back and fix any that STILL look bad...
