I'm just using password on the network drive... its mainly for images and stuff (content for our site) I might need...I wouldnt recommend putting sensitive info on there, but the point of a network drive is to have it available all the time and put selected stuff on it.
Another measure you can take is to only allow access from selected IP addresses, such as your office, or other places you regularly connect from...
