draw a line with a point at either end. select the line and then go to object>path>add anchor points. do this several times until you get points evenly distributed over your line (these points will be the peaks and valleys oof your sine wave). with the line still selected go to filter>distort>zig zag. select smooth and tweak settings to your preference. hope that makes sense - it's easier than it sounds.
