If you're spending New Year's with a loved one (or, esp. if you're single and don't have any obligations), why pack into a sweaty club/party with hundreds of other schlubs?

Why not dress warmly and spend an hour or so of contemplative thought in the park?

"That intoxicating scent of pine – coming as a surprise in the heart of Manhattan – signals that the visitor has come to the Arthur Ross Pinetum. Created in 1971 by New York philanthropist Arthur Ross, this scientific collection of pine species contains the largest number of evergreens in the Park – more than 466 trees representing 14 species, including 4 varieties of white pine, from around the world."

It looked beautiful after the recent snowfall.

Has all of the snow melted away?
